Mentors are students who are trained to help other students. They understand the challenges of university life and can answer your questions about uOttawa services, study methods, writing techniques, and more!

What’s a study group?
- A study group is a meeting between students from a specific course (offered online in MS Teams) to go over the course material.
- In a series of hands-on activities and discussions led by student mentors, you and your classmates review important concepts, theories and material seen in class.
- A study group is the perfect place to deepen your understanding of course materials, develop your study skills, and prepare for upcoming exams!
- All study groups are open to all students currently taking the class. Click on the study group of your choice to join its MS Teams and be informed about the sessions offered:

Join students from all over the university in a workshop to help you develop the skills necessary for you to succeed in University.
Workshops are run by one or two student mentors in a relaxed atmosphere where participants can all share their experiences and tips for success.

You can meet a writing mentor to:
- Get help understanding assignment instructions;
- Learn how to make an outline and organize your ideas into paragraphs;
- Get feedback on your writing and discover tools that will help you edit your own work;
- Learn how to cite your sources properly.

If you need help with your mandatory Academic Integrity module in Brightspace, or if your faculty requires you to attend an academic integrity session at the Academic Writing Help Centre (AWHC), reserve your spot now.
Professors can request a 15-minute virtual presentation designed to inform their students of the various mentoring and writing services that are offered via the Academic GPS and of the university’s regulation on academic fraud. If you are a uOttawa professor and would like to request a presentation, please contact us at least one week in advance.
Professors can also request a customized virtual workshop designed to help their students meet the requirements of academic writing for a specific assignment. If you are a uOttawa professor and would like to request a workshop, please contact us at least two weeks in advance.
