Adobe Connect at Contact North
Availability of Adobe Connect for 2021 fall semester
Starting in the Fall 2021 semester, you will be required to choose between MS Teams and Zoom for synchronous online course delivery. It will no longer be possible to use Adobe Connect at Contact North.
This change will also reduce the number of technologies students are expected to use, one of the recurring concerns by our students. Of course, we strongly recommend that you also use a Virtual Campus space (Brightspace), in parallel with MS Teams or Zoom, to share documents, contents, exams, etc.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Contact North’s services were implemented to deliver courses using Adobe Connect. During this period, the University of Ottawa has been strengthening its service offering in terms of videoconferencing tools that allow you to be online with your students synchronously. Indeed, you can now easily create an MS Teams Classroom using our Maestro portal and, since September 2020, the University has made available a Zoom license for all professors and teaching assistants.
As a result, we’ve seen a significant drop in Adobe Connect usage for the current semester, from peaks of over 3,000 students connected at the same time, to a current maximum of 750. In addition, Adobe Connect licensing costs have become prohibitive, so we have made the decision not to renew the Adobe Connect licenses managed by Contact North that expire at the end of March 2021.
We have arranged for Contact North to continue to host the University of Ottawa’s classes to the end of August 2021 through their own Adobe Connect licensing. As a result of this arrangement, you will be able to complete the Winter 2021 semester using Adobe Connect and still have the option of using Adobe Connect for the Spring/Summer term.

Adobe Connect Course Space Request Form for Summer 2021
You can now request the creation of an Adobe Connect space the same way that you request the creation of a Virtual Campus (Brighspace) course space, via the Maestro platform.
This change will improve and simply your request process since your basic information (i.e. your name, email, course list, and schedule) will already be already populated within the Adobe Connect form. It will also be easier for us to manage class lists so that Contact North can create your students' accounts.
When your account is created, you will receive your login information by email.
To then login to your course area, please follow the instructions below.

Contact North | Contact Nord is supporting the University of Ottawa by providing access to our Adobe Connect platform for courses.
You cannot access Contact North | Contact Nord’s Adobe Connect through the University of Ottawa’s Adobe Connect site (https://connect.uottawa.ca/).
If you have not yet completed the University of Ottawa course schedule form, please click here. If you have already done so, your classes will appear in your space. Please note that if it has been less than 24 hours since your request was made, it is possible that your classes may not appear yet.
Contact North | Contact Nord Adobe Connect Login information
- Go to the link you were provided.
- Login ID is the e-mail you provided in the sign-up form
- Temporary password is Connexion23 (if you already changed your password it will be the one you set)
- Click the Forgot your password link if you need to reset your password
Students access classes using a link for each class.
You can also access the link directly from the My Sessions page in the portal and copy and paste it into an e-mail or in your class on Brightspace.
When using the guest url student login as guest. The name they enter is what will appear in your list of participants.
Lectures can be recorded in Adobe Connect and the recording link posted to Brightspace for your students to access and view.
- Record your lecture or class in Adobe Connect
- In the Contact North Adobe Connect Portal, go to My Recordings
- Find the specific recording line
- On the right side of the recording line you have icons / tools… click the i icon
- In Access, click the lock icon to make your recording Public access
- In URL, copy the recording link and post it to your Brightspace

We are creating sessions as quickly as we can, with a priority on those starting soonest. We are currently working on Thursday and Friday sessions but expect to be caught up over the weekend.
If you do not see your session in the portal or listed on the Class Links site, and your class is scheduled for tomorrow morning on today, or if you are having technical difficulties accessing your classes, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call our IT Helpdesk at 1-888-850-4628. If your class is for a later date and not yet in your My Sessions list, please don’t call the Helpdesk so that we can continue to support those who require technical assistance.
