Special Webinar - Growth & Goals Module

A special collaboration with Professor Alison Flynn Ph.D. from the Faculty of Science.

In the past few years, we’ve seen students face serious challenges: How to learn in this new environment? How to manage stress? How to manage competing life and academic demands? While the pandemic will pass, students will still need these skills to thrive in their careers. As professors, most of us were not trained to explicitly teach the learning skills that students need to thrive in such rapidly changing situations.

The Growth and Goals Module, which can be integrated in any course to help students learn these skills by meeting students where they are. The module is designed to empower students with the learning skills they need to thrive and continually adapt. They develop skills of metacognition (identifying what they know, don’t know, and strategizing accordingly), goal-setting, self-regulated learning, mindfulness, and mindsets.

Participate in the Growth and Goals webinar where you can learn more and adapt the module to your course on the spot.

*A reminder email (including link and login information) will be sent 24 hours prior to the webinar. Be sure to include a working email when registering.

Mélanie Brunet, Open Education Librarian

You are creating an open educational resource (OER) that will be released under a Creative Commons licence. What does that entail? What happens to your intellectual property? Can you use resources from the Library’s collections for your project? Can you incorporate third-party content protected by copyright and does fair dealing apply? How can you combine content published under different licences? Is permission required? Which licence should you apply to your own OER? This webinar will provide answers to these questions and more to ensure that your work is open and reusable while respecting copyright.
